Allen Brubaker was a retired English teacher living with his wife (Loren) and children (Charlie and Amy) in the countryside outside Asherton. Marcus goes to them after crashing the cop car and becoming injured. The Brubakers tell him that folks have noticed the Sheriff's policies of making people go missing and decide to help Marcus.
The Sheriff arrives and Allen goes out to lie that Marcus is not in the house. Marcus believes him to be successful until the Sheriff shoots Allen six times in the chest. The rest of the family is also shot soon after.
It is later revealed that Allen Brubaker is part of the Shepherd Organization (his family is real) and that the entire incident was staged with special effects to coax Marcus along the path towards the Shepherd Organization.
